...On.....Onl.......ONLY A SECOND ROUNDER?
WTF!
Something is wrong here, i swear, this guy has the potential to be an amazing top 3 defenceman and 26 years of age for only a second?

^More like Edmonton got ripped off. Leopold is probably worth around a 2nd rounder, maybe a bit less, Grebs is worth far more than that.
Great deal Nashville, I guess we can get Hamhuis now.

Ok, confirmed then.
Another former Islander - and yes, I believe he's worth more than a 2nd...

Agreed. Florida got the best of their deal with Pittsburgh, though Leopold should help the Pens down the stretch. Edmonton, however, could have probably landed a 1st for Grebeshkov, or at least a decent prospect or roster player to go with the 2nd.

Also, this only gives Edmonton an extra $3 million to work with. They won't replace him for that price. Nashville's top-four is looking pretty sweet:
Suter - Weber
Grebeshkov - Hamuis
And yet, I still don't think it'll be enough to keep them in the Playoffs.

Because Nashville are penny-pinchers. To my knowledge they never have spent right to the cap.

Lol this and the fact that Hamhuis is a pending UFA and it seems 100% that he won't sign.
Also they need a top 6 forward and trading Hamhuis can give you that commodity.

Don't get this move by Edmonton at all. Only a 2nd rounder? The only explanation is that they have been in contract negotiations and realized he doesn't want to stay in Edmonton so they had to move him.
And Josh is right. I knew everybody was gonna be jumping to conclusions and saying "now Hamuis is expendable, Ottawa can get him". This could be true, but it could just as likely mean "Nashville is in a playoff postion and is looking to make a serious run and is now much less likely to move a key peice of their defense core".

It seems 100% likely he won't sign? Source? Link please.
You do have a point though, maybe a team in need of some defense help with some forwards to sell... Not sure who that might be though. Anaheim perhaps?

Oh, it's been going on for a LONG time now. Everyone knows that Hamhuis is Nashville's beating boy for everything bad that happens to them.
Hamhuis has hated Nashville for some while now and wants to play for a bigger market.
Also, Nashville is in deep need of a top 6 like i previously said. Who ELSE is perfect enough to trade than Hamhuis.

I think the price for Hamhius will be too high, but as a rental, he's one of the guys I want badly. He'd get more PP time in Ottawa than he did in Nashville, more scoring in Ottawa than he did in Nashville, etc. He could put up good offensive numbers while being ROCK solid defensively.

Wow, according to Dreger the Flyers are targeting Hamhius, and want Ryan Parent straight up for him. Can the Sens beat that? Hmm...think Foligno for Hamhius type. I'm not saying we'll do it, but Parent is pretty close in value to Foligno (imo)
