Default Stajan re-signed, Ott too

Second straight double re-signing thread!

Flames ink Stajan to four-year contract extension

^ That's Stajan staying in Calgary (meh)

Report: Ott agrees to four-year extension with Stars

^ That's Ott reportedly re-signing in Dallas (wow lol)

Not the smartest of moves, though the Stajan one is good.

I don't think either of these moves are very good.

Well the fact the Flames re-signed Stajan is good for them... the contract itself.... eww.

And Ott, I wish he would go to the KHL already

I thought for sure Ott was going to be traded. Guess not.

The Stajan deal kinda sucks for Calgary. They payed him around market value (usually overpaid by a bit), and I think they overpaid him by .5 million-ish. But they overpay many players (Bouwmesster as an example) and their franchise is rocketing downhill. This is what happens to your team when you don't have a #1 center to lead the way. Your teams offense starts to cripple, and your stars begin to stop producing. Anybody still wanna trade Spezza?

^ Can't believe people wanted to trade Spezza last year, imagine if we traded him AND then found out Heatley wanted out.

We'd be in deep trouble.

Or at the beginning of the year when Fisher was producing PPG and Spezza was struggling to score goals and people wanted to trade him.

Spezza will be around Ottawa for a very long time. Kovalev may not be.

After next year he'll be gone.

I think 3 million would have been more reasonable. I don't know what Sutter is doing, though. Stop overpaying 2nd/3rd line centers and go get a 1st line center.
