Default Where There's Smoke...

A whole lot of buzz out there the last 24 hours surrounding the Ottawa Senators.

I don't know if people are getting bored of the lack of hockey talk or what, but the ol' blackberry has been going off all day.

Odd for September 1...

Anyway, all sorts of rumours out there that the Senators may be toying with the idea of making an impact move before training camp. Details are next to impossible to come by but one contact did suggest that the Sens may be approaching a deal, for what he called "a long time target".

I don't usually reference Eklund but for the past couple days he has been touting a major move by a contending team. Not sure if that is in anyway related to the influx of rumours but the timing certainly is interesting.

I'm going to keep digging on this one. Here I was thinking I had another few weeks of low key discussion around here!

Seen it on Ek's site for the past couple of days and immediately thought the first time it could be BM, no doubt we are a contending team and I didn't think BM was done, it's been a decent summer for me if something big happens. I were to have called that and the Gonchar signing

Buh-bye Filip

Bobby Ryan?

lol, I think I would pass out from shock if it was Bobby Ryan AK...

Penner sounds reasonable, but we already have too many LWs.

Anaheim's D is looking pretty bad,, after the top 3 and Offensively all they got is Vishnovsky,

Kuba would look good there

2nd Rounder, Kuba and Shannon for Ryan

More like Kuba, Lee, 1st for Ryan. And that's hardly still fair for Anaheim.

I wish we could get Ryan for Kuba + Shannon + 2nd. It would probably cost more than Phil Kessel to get Bobby Ryan. Probably two 1sts, two 2nds and a prospect or a good forward prospect.

Kessel vs Ryan: both around the same age (Ryan is one year older). Similar goal scoring stats, while Ryan gets more assists. But that's not to mention Bobby Ryan throws some good hits, plays better defensively and has been more durable. So think Kessel + add.

If it meant getting Alfie his cup, I would do a similar deal that Toronto did with Boston for Kessel. At least we shouldn't be dealing a lottery pick(s).

It would probably have to be: 1st, 1st, Kuba +. I'm not sure the Ducks would be too interested in Wiercioch/Rundblad over a first round pick due to their defense prospect depth. We don't have a good forward prospect to offer up, either. Honestly, if we could get Bobby Ryan just for draft picks within the next two years I'd do it because we should be playoff bound for the next couple of years at least, especially if we added Ryan.

In order to get Ryan it would take:

Kuba, 1st, 1st, Silfverberg.

Anyway, i am hearing Hemsky's name from my source, odd, but interesting.

That trade for Ryan is accurate IMO.

Btw guys, i don't think Kuba is part of the rumours, it's going to involve picks and prospects or a roster player(Forward)

Edit: If a trade was to be made without Kuba it would probably be:

Michalek+1st+Rundblad/Lee

For Ryan+prospect/pick
