Sens Stick With It
Looked like one of those nights where a goalie was going to steal one. The Senators had all sorts of chances over the first 40 minutes but just couldn't find a way to beat Deslauriers. The Oilers rookie deserves full credit for his performance tongiht.
The Sens stuck with it though and were finally rewarded with a power play goal mid way through the third period. Matt Cullen one timed a pass from Erik Karlsson and finally found a way through the red hot goaltender.
Fisher scored shortly after and the Senators were in complete control from then on out.
Good to see the Senators get a couple power play goals in the third period. Should give them a little more confidence with the man advantage and maybe get that part of their game going a little bit.
The Senators should have dominated this game against the lowly Oilers and they did. If not for the heroics of Deslauriers this game could have been real ugly.
On a side note, I really like the looks of the Karlsson/Sutton pairing out there. Sutton provides a strong stay at home game and it seems to be allowing Karlsson a little more freedom on the offensive side of things.
Andy Sutton has looked very solid since his arrival in Ottawa. I knew what he brought defensively but I've been really impressed with his offensive awareness. He's never going to be a big point getter but he seems to make the right play most of the time at both ends of the rink.
Hope to see more of that pairing on this West Coast trip.
GO SENS GO!
