Michalek Out, St. Pierre and Smith Called Up
There is no official update on Milan Michalek but Ian Mendes is saying that he will be out indefinitely with the upper body injury suffered against the Capitals last night.
The Ottawa Senators have called up Martin St. Pierre and Zach Smith from Binghamton. Both players are expected to play tomorrow night.
The injury woes continue for the Ottawa Senators.

Hey Chirp are we starting to hear any rumblings in the trade market or still quiet... I think were starting to look really slim now without our big guns... Something has to give with these injures very happy were still in a playoff spot.

he's not going to respond you you on this site, thats a robot type thing that just posts it to this site as soon as he posts on his blog site, so if you want to make contact with him you'll either have to do it during a live blog, or through his blog somehow.

and on other thoughts, the sens are really getting beat up, who is it now? our entire FIRST line, thats brutal, spezza, michalek, alfredsson. Lecalire really needs to step it up a few notches and really take the team on his shoulders, because the lack of scoring ability this team has right now, we can't afford leclaire letting in 1-2 bad goals a game, even with michalek back lightning, he hasnt been playing very wel without spezza, you say spezza and kovalev and michalek arent playing well? look what happens to the team when there not even on the ice, kovalevs lighting it up out there and is really the only consistant one out there (never though you would hear the day did you). fisher is in a slump after a HOT start, spezza was starting to pick it up, got hurt, alfy is alfy, his presence is always know when he is on the ice, leclaire WAS starting to really pick it up, (not letting in bad goals) and playing outstanding, the he got hurt, now he is back to the way he was at the beginning of the season, the sens NEED to make a trade if they want to stay in a playoff spot, i really hope murray sees that instead of using all our young guns from bingo.

You know, if we're going to automatically feed Chirpy's posts here, he should probably make an account and contribute to the forum...

I meant if you think he actually has an inside source. And I don't mean he has a buddy who works as a copy boy or an editor at the Ottawa Citizen...

Yeah. He's announced a few things before they were reported by anyone else. The Hossa for Heatley trade, the Saprykin trade and the Kovalev signing.

He does have inside sources.
He has connections where some Assistant GM's and speaks to some GM's himself SOMETIMES. He also has inside scoop with people who talk to GM's regularly.
He practically said all the trade rumours and signings and trades like weeks before they happen.

He has to have an inside source, there is no way someone can get lucky like that announcing all these trades and signing before they happen, either he knows someone else thats has a really good source, or he has one himself.

The Heatley and Sapyrkin trades were on Sportsnet Forums.
Here's the Kovalev one: Sens Chirp: Senators Sign Kovalev
He was also right on something else. I'll try to think of what it was.
Edit: He broke the Smith signing.

OK, first of all, if he "broke" that Heatley wanted out before it was public, then he's technically the leak and screwed over the team on that one. But I don't buy it. Him wanting out was a surprise to people like Alfredsson and Murray, yet Sens Chirp knew all about it?
I think he's more like Eklund - obsessed and extremely well read when it comes to hockey, and usually one of the first people to have information. He hears some rumblings and posts what he hears. If he's wrong, it's not like he said he was sure, but if he was right, everyone's on the bandwagon. Look at the Heatley trade - he was all over the place with teams and his posts were getting real repetitive - "got a bunch of texts about this team, is it true, will Dany waive, more later...".
I'm not trying to bash the guy - he's obviously a good journalist and he certainly has good taste in hockey teams. And if someone wants to link him to this thread and say "Hey Chirp, some prick on The Sens Forum thinks you're just a regular Joe", be my guest, I'd be really curious to know what kind of sources he does have.
I still think he should contribute to the forum if we're going to RSS his every post...

Nah, if anyone remembers he kept giving us different updates on different teams.
Though i can bet u anything that he said clearly almost everymonth:
'If Heatley is not traded by July 1st than he's going to be a Shark'
That's why if you all remember, i was giving like a 1, 000,000 trade preposals from Sens/Sharks.
