Default Quick Rumour Update

A few quick notes on the rumour front this afternoon...

The Nashville rumours are still there as the Senators and Predators continue to scout each other. There is still talk about a defenceman wanting out but a source today suggested that defenceman IS NOT Shea Weber.

There's still talk about Cody Franson but apparently the guy the Senators really like is Dan Hamhuis. Hamhuis is in the final year of his deal paying him $2 million a season. He is set to be a UFA at season's end and is not expected to return to Nashville.

Hamhuis has 12 points in 39 games this season for the Preds.

No word on what it would take to acquire a guy like Hamhuis but the Predators would likely want a young defenceman and perhaps a forward in return. That's just speculation on my part.

Another name that has come up is that of Andrew Brunette in Minnesota. Brunette would provide a veteran presence up front and could definitely help an ailing power play. Brunette has another year on a contract that pays him $2.3 mil a season.

Minnesota may have an interest Brian Lee.

The Senators focus remains on finding a top 4 defenceman but they wouldn't mind adding another natural winger that can play in their top 6.

As always, these are just rumours folks...

Over at GOLD RUSH I've put together my pre-tournament rankings. Head over there to discuss! Puck drop is just 41 days away in the 2010 Olympics!

DAMN! Shea Weber rumours come to an end.

Ok so i was wondering who Murray was talking about...A defenceman that can help us on the offensive side AND the defensive side? I had to think but Hamhuis fits the bill perfectly.

I'd do Brunette for Lee in seconds i'd even throw in a 3rd rounder or an average prospect.

I wish there is a way we can trade Kuba and get Hamhuis like in a package of some sort if those 2 swap would be deal of the decade for the Sens.

Also, Murray doesn't DAREEEEEEEEEEEEE trade away one of our Swedish dynomites.

Brian Lee for Andrew Brunette?

Why has this not been done yet? Done in a HEARTBEAT IMO!

As for Hamhuis.. I'm not so sure that Hammy is the answer to our problems,,, we need a Dman that can effectively move the puck and score from time to time, Hamhuis IMO doesn't fit that bill, I'd prefer Franson.

If the Weber rumors are done that makes me sad. But that just might be some good news, why in the world would I say that... Well, how many times does a rumor actually turn out to be a trade?? Soooooo hopefully BM is still working on that one,,, we do have an extra Second Rounder who IMO would very likely be dealt, keep ours, and send off SJ's because I highly doubt we finish ahead of them.

I'm going to have a look at what we can do and post it later or tomorrow, I just noticed that if we got Brunette he would immediately become our top scorer, points wise lol
