Saturday Without Senators Hockey
Pretty weird to have a Saturday without an Ottawa Senators game to watch. First time this season the Senators are off on a Saturday.
The Senators skated this morning in preparation for their game tomorrow afternoon against an improved Philadelphia Flyers squad at Scotiabank Place. Puck drops at 1:00 PM.
Here's a look at the lines from this morning's skate...
Shannon-Fisher-Kovalev
Michalek-Regin-Foligno
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil
Cheechoo-Winchester-Donovan
Not sure I really like bumping Cheechoo off that third line. The guy has done nothing but work his backside off since arriving here in Ottawa and was doing a great job on that line with Kelly and Ruutu.
I understand wanting to get Neil a little more ice time but I'm not sure it should come at the expense of #41.
Knowing Cheechoo, he will continue to work hard even if it is on the fourth line. No player on the Sens roster has gone to the net as consistently as Cheechoo has this season.
Meanwhile, the Flyers are coming off an overtime loss in yesterday's Winter Classic at Fenway Park in Boston. Not sure if any of you had a chance to take in yesterday's Classic but it really was an amazing spectacle. Full credit to the National Hockey League for a job well done.
An update from Bingo. Brian Lee is back in the line up with Binghamton and actually scored the overtime winner the other night. Good to see Lee back on the ice.
Lastly, if anyone is feeling hockey withdrawal tonight, I'll be live blogging the Leafs/Flames game over at theScore.com.
Hopefully I'll see some of you over there...
