I agree that Shannon will breakout this year. Instead of timid play because of small size, he uses his speed to make up for it. The number of times he created a rush just by himself and surprised the other team's D.... I was pleasantly surprised!

I really liked his play after Clouston's arrival...
I'm really excited to actually see Clouston from training camp on. The see him start from "almost" scratch with the boys..

True, he does deserve to be up on that top line. I guess I was more focused on getting Fisher the help he needs.

That is my exact lineup, except the top lines are switched (Heatley-Fisher-Kovalev on second line while Foligno-Spezza-Alfie are on the first line).

get rid of Kelly & Smith and sign Sundin for 3 million.
Heatley - Spezza - Kovalev
Foligno - Sundin - Alfie
Ruutu - Fisher - Shannon
Regin - Winchester - Neil
Sundin would still be better then fisher centering the second line. Even switch Kovy & Alfie at times. Fisher would do a better job then Kelly and we could bring up Karlsson or who ever else is ready.
5 first line players.

Heatley has to prove that he can play WITHOUT a passer (or a skilled stickhandler)...
Or he will be the same, and won't improve forever.
Kovalev - Spezza - Alfie
(Good balanced line...IMO)
Foligno - Fisher - Heatley
(A strong line...in this case, Fisher will have a chance to get more offensive...Heatley will have a chance to prove that he doesn't need a passer to play well)
Kelly - Winchester - Shannon
(Shannon will bring energy to this line, and Kelly will can help the defensive part of this line)
Bass - Regin - Neil
(Bass, Neil will bring agressiveness...good for a 4th line)
*Donovan, Ruutu, Schubert can also be in the roster
Kuba - Volchenkov
(Kuba is the best offensive guy here on our team IMO...but lacks defensive part. So I put Volchenkov)
Campoli - Karlsson
(Pure offensive line...Karlsson will have a chance to play)
Phillips - Lee
(Defensive line)
*Smith, Picard can also be in the roster
LeClaire
Elliot
*Brodeur, Glass, Lehner can also be in the line

This was in a different thread, and I didn't want to go off topic on there. So I'll post my comments to his post here.

I agree. I think he'll sign at a cheaper contract with Ottawa, though. He had his breakout season and then got signed for 2.5
I could see him signing for 2.5-3.25 to stay here. He seems to like it here.

I don't think he'd fit in...but man that would be awesome to have Sundin and Alfredsson!
Who else in the league is Swedish and at the end of their career...???
You think Lidstrom would sign here? lol

Ya get him, and then call up lundqvist, ohlund and Zetterberg and you have enough of the gold medal team to put on the ice for the national anthem at the very least ;p
