Ottawa to host NHL All-Star Game in 2012!
Quote:
|
@SunGarrioch: I've also heard that Ottawa will host the 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend.
|
League commissioner Gary Bettman has a scheduled meeting with Ottawa Senators brass next week at which point an announcement on the showcase game could be made. The 2010-11 all-star game has already been given to the Carolina Hurricanes.
If Ottawa is granted the game during Bettman’s luncheon with Senators owner Eugene Melnyk and general manager Bryan Murray, it won’t come as a complete surprise. The club has been on the short list to host the three-day event for several seasons, after Bettman promised Melnyk the NHL would accept Ottawa’s bid once the league’s previous commitments to other franchises had been fulfilled.

This definitely will be good for the Sens and the city of Ottawa.
But over the last few years, the NHL All Stars has been losing its appeal over its fans.
It appears that it still fills the stands but its TV ratings has been sliding.
Being in Ottawa, will it help it or just be another boring event among its fans in Canada and the world?

Phaneuf and Kessel have a much better chance of being voted in over Kaberle. The main reason why Kaberle was voted in was because he is a leaf, he's a good player but not all-star good.

Kaberle wasn't voted in by fans. He was chosen by the Leafs to represent the team.

I'm going to go on record as saying that Tomas Kaberle is an All-Star caliber player.

Yep. Kaberle = all-star. If he ever decided to add a slapshot on the PP, he'd REALLY tear up this league
