I think LeClaire is more consistent...
He consistently plays a good game, and usually lets in a weak goal.
If he didn't let in that one weak goal a game --- he'd be great. And he needs to improve his confidence and Shoot Out play! Other than that... I think a healthy (for a whole year) LeClaire is gonna do fine. But the consistent flip-flopping of goaltending, has got to take a toll.

did you guys see the other night when the fly landed on LeClaires face? I thought for sure they were gonna have to take him out on a stretcher.

Sometimes I wonder if he's in danger of having carpal tunnel for the repetitive strain of operating the bench gate...

LeClaire got pulled.
Elliot played really well(If you can call it that)
What's going on? Just when we think the other goalie is going to take the job the other one steps up.

clouston should just let the 2 goalies play one period at a time each like elliot play the first period, leclaire play the second, elliot play the third and leclaire in the first of the next game, because it seems to me, whenever we pull our goalie, they always do good, or at least the majority of the time haha, just might be a solution thats never going to happen

I want to give Holt a chance...seriously.
Hey guys i have a question!
How about a solid free agent college goalie? Look how Bozak turned out(Which Murray was really interested in first before Burke got him)

Elliot is the better goalie; but Leclaire has proven himself lately that he can be a good goalie too, he was a excellent Junior goalie for the Mooseheads!

Last night proved why this thread is in existence.
Solid Goaltending makes the Sens, imo, the team to beat.
Games against Chicago prove that.

It isn't only solid goaltending. It's solid defensive plays that help our goaltenders play even better.

True but last night Elliot still had to make some game changing saves like at one point where he made 3 saves in a row to preserve the lead all in close.
Besides, the defence played SO good yesterday, if Elliot didn't get the shutout than i would have been worried about our situation heading into the playoffs.

So...looks like our goaltending is pretty solid/decent. Our defense has also played a major factor in this back-to-back shutout too.
And what I realized is that Phillips, Volchie, Sutton has finally started to woke up and play what their supposed to do.
I wanna see more offense (they can make chances, but they can't score) though...just IMO.

The team never plays like that in front of Leclaire. It makes me think that the team prefers to play in front of Elliot. There has been a noticeable difference in play between our winning streak and now. During the winning streak the sens would take away time and space from the opposing team with ease. After the Olympics it looks like they a just trying to get into the playoffs healthy or just position themselves for a more favourable match up.

Its true... there is a huge difference between our D with Elliot (most of the time) and not. But Elliot plays better when our D does too! I think our D is a HUGE factor in our goaltending confidence.
I think our goaltending with consistent D, will be completely totally fine. Our goaltending of course isn't the best in the League. But its not half bad. Its when our D let up, and give away tonnes of shots and what not, is when our goalies falter.
But we all know our D is capable of playing great, and our Goalies are capable of playing great too. Its just a consistency that we lack.

By saying this it means neither of our goalies are going to steal a game for us any time soon so if they play poor in front of him we are done.

Agreed.
Brian Elliot's performance in these last 8 games will be extremely vital on what our chances will be in the playoffs.
He can either go on a tear and bring ALL the confidence in the world with you to the playoffs or go on a low note which will make Clouston's confidence in you shimmer and give LeClaire playing time...

If Clouston starts LeClaire he is incompetent. What are the likelihood of Elliot having consecutive bad games? Even if Elliot has a brutal game and gets chased, Clouston needs to start him next game just to let him know, or make him think, that he has confidence in him

Yep, agree
Leclaire is done. Wonder if we'll be able to move him in the off-season?
To Edmonton for one of their young goalies perhaps?
