Default Booing Alfredson

I never like to go to Senators Leaf Games but this year I kept two sets. Ended up giving a set away to my son and traded tonight’s tickets for a pair on April 10th.

The reason I don’t like going to these games is the Idiot Leafs fans. There are good Leaf fans and people you know who you are. I sit in a section that is sold out to senator fans 90% of the time. So I can hear the booing but I can see who is yelling it out. My fear is that if I did I would say something somewhat nasty or maybe stick my sock in their yap.

The other problem is the Ottawa fans not yelling louder. What would you do?

Let them Boo and stay quiet? Seriously

Please don’t tell me that it does not bother Alfredsson because the hit he made almost proves it.

Totally agree...were both on the same page.

One thing I always wonder when I watch the SBP..."Where are the fans when I saw at the Game 3 of the Cup Finals?"

I know their won't be that many, since it was the "Cup Finals". But still...too many empty seats. Where are the fans? Were most of them bandwagoners?

Booing Alfredsson has kind of just become tradition I guess. I actually think he thrives from it though.

I once thought that was the case when Sundin was still playing but I honestly think it burns him inside. Not the fact that 4 to 5,000 people boo him but the fact that the other 15,000 can't drown them out.

He does just fine at the ACC with the booing. I'm sure the boos will be 10X as loud next year after that hit from behind V2.0 tonight.

Booing Alfie is the only way these shitty fans can try to get under the skin of Sens fans. There isnt a team in the NHL that wouldnt clear house to get Alfie on their roster, and in terms of character, your not about to find another captain who is a real leader and all around good guy.
Its rude, but hey, its the Leafs, or the Habs, and in the end, it just shows how pathetic and low they are at the core. Respect among fans is not something our two neighbor teams have.

I too give up my tickets for Sens/Leafs or Sens/Habs. I used to put up with it, but last season on several occasions I had opposition fans try and pick fights with me and at two different games I had them toss food at myself and my pregnant wife. Its disgusting to see the human condition so pathetic, but thats why I hate leaf/habs fans. Thats why I think they are lower then dog shit.
Im not stupid enough to paint all leaf/habs fans with the same brush, and to those of you here who cheer for those teams, I dont aim that hate at you(most of the time), but for the most part...

In the end, its not us they are heckling, its Alfie, and Im sure he sees it for what it is. They dont like him because he is good, and Im sure he either ignores it, or feeds off it. Some say the greatest compliment is the hate from your enemies.

This. lmfao in the GDT, i said he bumped into him. It wasnt a deliberate push like Ovechkin's. Apparently Leaf fans get pissy when our captain sends someone into the boards. He wasnt even hurt.

I once heard Alfie comment on it... and he was like --- meh whatever! Can't have everyone like me!

And I love going to Sens vs Leafs games... last one I was at, there was a girl fight. But I am always cheering loudly.

I want the fans to be like they were in 2007, in the city of Ottawa. Just die hard. BUT I think everyone knows the fans are not diehard, in general... at least not the amount that it should be. So its part of the joys of Sens fans.

But we should cheer louder!!!

Well, I don't know if you heard it on TV, but there were some "Alfie! Alfie! Alfie!" chants throughout the game. They had a ceremonial puck drop and he got an Alfie chant there. A couple times throughout the booing he got a chant. And after that Beauchemin hit, he got an Alfie chant.

But this was my first time at a Leafs/Sens game so were they booing louder than usual?

(at one time it was 50 50 leaf fans)

My point here is not how loud the Leaf diseased fans boo. It’s about the conservative, in my own world Ottawa fans that just sit there and let it happen. I personally know 50 season ticket holders that give their Toronto seats to Leaf fans because they do not wish to attend thanks for putting fuel on the fire. Seriously if a Leaf fans booed Alfredsson once and he was sitting beside me on I would let it go. The second time I would say “ Hey buddy I come here to enjoy myself please hold your negative emotions to yourself” Cheer for a good Leaf goal I will cheer along with you. If that didn’t work I would be in his ear the entire game until he would shut up or leave.

Alfredsson is a professional, this has gone on for a few seasons now. I think he just expects it during leaf games and is capable of dealing with it.

If leaf fans really wanted to try to throw him off his game, they should cheer when he gets the puck instead, he'd be confused

And I completly, 100% agree, leaf fans should not be louder then us at SBP, its embarrassing.

Its got nothing to do with Leafs fans, its the Sens fans fault. If you don't love your team enough to quiet the boo birds then stop bitching.

I've never been to a live Sens game...but it irks me everytime the Sens play the Leafs at Scotiabank Place, I know it's going to sound like a Leafs game at the ACC.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel there are 2 causes:

1. The area is full of die-hard Leafs fans who never made the switch over to supporting the Sens.

2. The die-hard Sens fans just don't bother to show up because of how bad it gets and that leaves just the casual supporters to sit there and take it. It's a vicious cycle.

4. There are a large number of college students from the Toronto area who go to school in Ottawa at Ottawa U and Carleton, who attend the games when the Leafs are in town.
