Default Top 10 Ottawa Senators Prospects: Euros and Huge Blueliners key to success

Here is the Top 10 Ottawa Senators Prospects.

1: Jared Cowen (Ranked 38th): Huge stay at home defensemen (6'5", 200) is compared to star players such as Zdeno Chara. He has been injured for quite a while, which may be the reason why his ranking has downfall the chart fast, but he hasn't disappointed the organization as he had few strong season despite fighting off the pain. He could still improve his strength.

2: Patrick Weircoch (Ranked 43rd): Weircoch is a offensive defensemen that can move tha puck really well. He has dealt with knee injury as well, but had an amazing season. He is pretty big (6'3", 178) but lacks weight and strength. It wouldn't be long seeing him on a Senators Jersey.

3: Robin Lehner (58th): One of the best goalie prospects, Lehner is considered as the best OHL goalie by many scouts. He is a tank goalie (6'3", 220). He may be the future guy in net for Ottawa.

4: Andre Pettersson: With tremendous offensive skills and goal-scoring talents, he plays on the top line, for the top team in the Swedish Elite League. He may need to still develop his strength. His only problem is size (5'9", 169).

5: Mike Hoffman: 2009 fifth rounder has quickly skyrocketed up the draft chart as the organization said he is a "late round bloomer". He has fast, acurate, and extremely heavy shot. He will likely suit up in the AHL Binghamton next season.

6: D. Grant: 1st line center on his team (Michigan State, CCHA). He can put up reasonable numbers. He is also pretty big (6'3", 190).

7: Z. Smith: He showed that he can play at the NHL level already. In his brief NHL stint he has seemed confident. He had 2 goals in that span. He is a powerfoward, and has great strenghth.

8: B. Lee: Getting bigger and stronger (6'3", 206), Lee can play in the NHL level. He just has to use his size and strength as an advantage, and be more physical. While a lot of fans are confused what type of defensemen he is (who is surprised?), he is supposed to be a offensive defensemen with great puck moving skills.

9: Jacob Silfverberg: Speedy two-way foward, he played a huge role in the past WJCs

10: C. Greening: With experience and great character, he will finally turn into pro next year. He is very mature, and barely makes any mistakes.

Our organization is a !!!

Shows how smart those hockey analysists are.

Patrick Wiercioch is 6'5 200 pounds now. Compared to his 6'3 178.

Robin Lehner is now 6'4 224 pounds.

I got it from THN so don't blame me

Besides I don't know where you got the 6'5, but hockeydb and hockey'sfuture both says 6'3 and 6'2 which is close enough. Denver website says 6'4. Official Senators website says 6'3, and most of the website says the same.

While every site I've seen except the Denver one said 178.

I think your information is the one which is wrong.

While the Lehner part was right on you, but 6'3 and 6'4...does it really matter.

LOL, so you weren't talking about me! Kinda got confused...

Anyways thanks for the info

But which means we have 2 huge defensemen. One of them is known for "Chara jr.", another one is known for great puck moving skills.

About the heights and weights, also, they have Cowen at 200 pounds. I have my WJC program right here and they have him at 226.

Also, THN says Petersson is 5'9, 169 pounds, he is listed in my program as 5'11, 176.

And you're right, I remember looking up Wiercioch last summer and he was listed at 6'4, 196 pounds, at the World Junior try-outs in the fall they had him at 6'5, 200 pounds. THN really needs to find updated vital stats on these prospects. Its embarrassing.

Wow!?

Petersson is 5'11? BOO YEA!

I thought that since he was 5'9 he would struggle but thank god he is 5'11.

Some people might not think 2 inches is a big difference but it really is.

On skates now if he was 5'9 he would be 5'11 and since he is 5'11 now he would be 6'1.

And thank you for the confirmation on the info. I knew i was remembering right!

Despite when and where he was drafted, Corey Cowick should be number 10 on that list. The guy is a bonafied sniper who put up more goals then someone like Kadri, without having Johnny T at his side. If it wasn't for his early injury this season, he likely would have eclipsed his 35 goal mark from last year as he has 15 goals on 27 games this year.

Hopefully we can draft someone like Tyler Toffoli this year, as of now he is projected to go 15th overall, but Ottawa's performance in the Memorial Cup will likely change that.
