It's like saying Toews goes down but you still have Kane, while Keith goes down and you have umm Harjallassamma?
It's about depth, not loss and we are as hollow as anything on defence.
Cause Regin says hi. Regin stepped up and easily became this team's top center scoring highlight goals and setting them up like no other.
Karlsson easily won us 2 games. Right now our streak could have easily been over at 8 games. Karlsson made the play to Fisher for us to break the record and made that pass to Alfy for us to extend the winning streak.
Who's going to step up? PICARD? Nice.
Spezza was not a big loss cause Regin was beyond exceptional, Who's going to continue our dominance from the blueline now? Softy Kuba?
Karlsson is not a HUGEEE loss, but he is the reason why walked away with easy wins against tough ass teams, what i mean is, he made our wins look easy cause our blueline had everything.

1: You said the exact same thing twice
2: There is a guy named Seabrook...wanted to note that
3: But the absence of Spezza still hurt after all, only playing well for the first 4 games, while losing horribly the next 2 games or so. Than the sens lost Alfie and Michalek, thats when it started to go all wrong. Regin may have stepped up, but after all it showed that it wasn't Regin, Kovalev, nor Fisher who was keeping the sens alive for 4 straight, it was Alfie and Michalek.
Regin is good, but he is still pretty average. Come on, he is a rookie...take it easy.
But your statement was true...we have a crappy defense so maybe Karlsson is a bigger loss than losing Spezza or Michalek.
4: Karlsson isn't Lindstrom ...not even close

When you have players like Sopel and Hjalmarsson playing third pair, you know you're stacked on D. They'd be top 4 anywhere else.

Karlsson is like the backbone of the Sens. Without him the Sens will fall, which is true because if you recall yesterday's game. 5-0, our defense was terrible, i don't even think i saw the 1st line play more than 1 minute in 1 shift, and the most surprising thing is that KUBA got the most ice time, 22:26. Kovalev got only 14 minutes of ice time. Regin hes the least ice time, 11:20. Chris Neil has more. Don't know what's in Clouston's head.

It's one game, I don't think we can read that much into it yet. The test will be the next 4-5 games to see if the Sens can rebound back.

After last night, I have to say the loss of Karlsson can be felt. It's incredible how a ROOKIE defenceman is already an anchor on the blue line, it says so much about his immense potential. Perhaps this is a reason for the rumours of Phillips or Volch potentially gone next season, Karlsson can replace them.
I would like to see everyone but Kuba stay though.

If I were the Sens, my trading block would be:
Kuba
Cheechoo
Picard

I'm on the fence about Picard and Campoli, and neither are doing much to change that.

Maybe I'm just biased by having seen Campoli's progress on the Island, but he shows so much more potential to me than Picard ever has.

I wouldn't trade Donovan, we're not going to get anything for him, he doesn't take up much cap space, and he brings a lot of experience to the locker room. Everything I've heard about him suggests he's one of the most listened to players on the team.

I agree I would keep Donovan. If anyone follows my posts in the trade proposals section and whatnot, you will notice that every time I discuss our moves for this summer, I make sure to mention re-signing Donovan.
I, too, like Campoli better than Picard. I think Picard has more offensive potential but Campoli isn't as bad defensively. I agree with Matt, my trading block, in order, goes:
1) Kuba
2) Cheechoo
3) Picard
