Default KHL threatens to suspend Kirill Kabanov

Potential 2010 No. 1 Draft Pick in Russian Hockey Kerfuffle - Slap Shot Blog - NYTimes.com

Come over to North America! Screw the KHL!

He'll be the 1st overall pick in the 2010 draft, IMO, not Hall.

EDIT: A season in the CHL could solidify 1st overall position in the 2010 draft if he does good here.

Moncton provided an update on Kirill Kabanov, the high-scoring Russian forward that it selected seventh overall in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League import draft. The Hockey News ranks him the No. 2 prospect for the 2010 National Hockey League draft.

Kabanov, 17, is now in New York with his agent and he's obtained his Canadian travel visa. The issue that still needs to be settled is whether he's under contract to a club in Russia's professional level Kontinental Hockey League.

"We're now trying to roll up our sleeves and get him cleared to play for us,'' said Flynn. "He's training with his agent in New York right now. There's no date set for his arrival in Moncton.

^^ It's at the end. So possibilities of him playing in North America this year are good.

That is awesome! I sure hope he does play in the Q this year. I think a 120+ point season as a 17 year old rookie is not out of the question for a player of his size and caliber.

I too hope he plays in the Q, because I want to see this kid play, not just hear stories about him!

He's already playing there, he's just hurt. He has 14 points in 11 games.

I wanna go see Kirill Kabanov play desperately. I can't wait until next season.

I've only seen him in videos and games of stream, but I wanna see him live.

Why not check out that Olympiques game? It's one 15-minute bus ride from the Rideau Centre and then a 10-minute walk from Portage.
