Rich get richer
German top prospect Tom Kuhnhackl will be joining the Windsor Spitfire of the OHL next year. Windsor, already one of the top teams in junior hockey, last year's Memorial Cup winners and favorites again this year, just continue to get stronger. They added Buffalo Sabre's 2009 first round pick (13th overall), Zach Kassian at the CHL trade deadline. Jack Campbell, WJC gold medal winner and one of the top 2 goalie prospects for the 2010 draft, has turned down a scholarship at the University of Michigan to join the Spitfire next season. Kuhnhackl is a likely first round pick (2nd round for sure) for the 2010 draft and is considered one of the best offensive prospects to come out of Germany in a long time.
Obviously they will be losing Taylor Hall next season to the NHL and more than likely Cam Fowler as well. Greg Nemisz and Adam Henrique will be gone as well. But they just keep drafting and recruiting top young players. Jack Campbell, Ryan Ellis, Zach Kassian, Justin Shugg, Kenny Ryan, Tom Kuhnhackl, Richard Panik and Philip Grubauer will form the core of what will be a Memorial Cup contender yet again next year.
