Honestly, when a guy purposefully goes out and does crap like that he deserves to lose his career over it. And then has a smile on his face after he sees the guy convulsing on the ground. People get arrested for stuff like that! Its not like this guy is 2 years old and doesn't know that pushing a kid is bad. He should never play hockey again, its irresponsible, disrespectful, and seriously disgusting! I have NO respect for anything like that!
Ooooh this alll makes me SOOO mad!!!

What the hell is wrong with this guy??
How did he ever become the captain of Team Canada?
He did the same thing to one of the Swedish players
Wow in this case, I'm glad we lost..
Kick this guy out of hockey, IMMEDIATELY.

I don't think it's enough to ban him from hockey forever.
In fact, let him play hockey, but make his punishment be someone gets to hit him exactly like that, so he can see how it feels

I think if/when he plays hockey it will be interesting. It seems that everyone is outraged (as they should be), and I don't think people will be kind to this guy in hockey if he plays again.

He is drafted by the Devils...so it will be interesting to see how they deal with this once the final decision is taken by the Q league.

Lou Lamoriello definitely will not allow Patrice Cormier to play with the NHL club until he gets his head screwed on straight and stops doing dumb shit like this.

No Kidding...and maybe a meeting with big Lou could be the best thing that could happen to this kid.

he'll have a mark on his back as soon as he laces up in the NHL or AHL because guys will want to get him like that before he does it to them

Sorry any league that lets Todd Bertuzzi, Steve Downie, and Chris Pronger continue to play will let Cormier in.
Pronger has elbowed countless people in the head in his career and gets 1 or 2 games suspensions and no other repercussions, while his victims suffer reper-concussions.
Some times you have to be willing to give someone a second chance, one mistake should not ruin his career. He deserves to be punished, yes. But to ban him from hockey is a bit much, not when others continue to play.
I am not just saying that because he is from New Brunswick, or because I am friends with his cousin. I honestly believe everyone deserves a second chance.
Next serious offense, throw away the key, sure.

To be fair, he isn't playing in the NHL anymore, might be a result of his shenanigans (no one wanting him)
I believe McSorely got another chance after his actions as well.

not after the hit on Brashear.
I blame Hollweg as much as Chris Simon.....not to condone what Chris Simon did

That's just one incident. He was suspended 8 different times. I was embarrassed when the Islanders signed him...

He allegedly called Mike Grier a "N****" - suspended 3 games in 1997
He cross checked Peter Popovic in the throat - 1 game suspension, 2000
Elbowing Anders Eriksson - 2 game suspension, 2001
Cross checking, then jumping on Ruslan Fedotenko while he was prone and sucker punching him - 2 game suspension, 2004
Kneeing Sergei Zubov - 2 game suspension, 2004
Then the two big ones you mentioned:
Taking a swing at Ryan Hollweg with his stick and nearly taking his head clean off, and stomping Ruutu's leg from behind him.
