A few points I wanted to make. I hate the Maple Leafs and Kadri made some real bad turnovers and real bad penalties, but I met him a couple of times and he was a really cool, really nice guy. Jordan Eberle, as much as I loved his play, was kind of a douche bag, the one time I met him, after the Switzerland round robin game I believe, there was about 15 people crowded around for his autograph and I think he signed 2, even those reluctantly. He also left his gold medal "player of the game award" in his hotel room next to the garbage can (I know this because my friend's mom is a housekeeper there, and if its not claimed in 2 months, she can take it home )...
Kinda off topic but I also met James Duthie and Bob McKenzie, chatted with them from time to time between games, Duthie is absolutely hilarious. Quote of the tournament: "Bobby, I don't know where they put my coat".
Conz absolutely deserved goalie of the tournament, he had one extremely shaky game against Latvia and was only good against Canada and Sweden in the medal rounds (Yes, I would consider his 11 goal on 50 shot performance good, simply because almost every one of those shots was a very legitimate scoring chance) but in every other game he was absolutely brilliant. He was just barely draft eligible last year (by 3 days) and went undrafted. Not a chance hes getting passed up 200 plus times again this year.
One more thing, maybe it was already mentioned but did anybody else notice a bit of a "curse" or something? January 5, 2004, USA vs Canada for gold, Marc-Andre Fleury puts the puck in his own net off Braydon Coburn to help USA win gold. 6 years to the day later, another french-Canadian goalie, Jake Allen, giftwraps and hand-delivers the puck to Derek Stepan on a similar play to give USA a goal that helped them win the medal...
