I said something good about the habs today. Carl said the Habs were a big fat bunch of losers and I told him that no habs are fat.

We're not fat, nor are we losers. 3-2 victory.
Congrats to the Leafs as well. First shutout since...God knows. They didn't get one last year though.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that the Habs are going to be crap this year. I think they'll do just fine!

Hope you are proud of a win over a team who has played their third game in 3 days.

SG...

I'm not brainwashed. I'm basing it on this comment below vvv

You never know in the NHL.
|
They also addressed their other big need, to get BIGGER and meaner so that other teams won't push them around so much.
Meanwhile the Habs got a hell of a lot smaller and still rely on Carey Price. Which could pay off for them big...or be a big disappointment.

Matt, I don't think Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto addressed all their needs.
Montreal??? i don't know what they did.
Toronto still won't be able to score a lot of goals...but the truculence pugnacity and the goal tending situation should be ok and the d has been beefed up.
Ottawa didn't do anything about their D and we can't even be sure the goal tending situation is solved.
Only time will tell.

Toronto didn't have any problems scoring goals last year - in fact, they had almost 3 goals per game.
I see their bigger need coming into this season being to stem the tide on D - and they signed a number of good defensive D and got the Monster.
Montreal - well I tend to agree, I'm not sure what they did or why.
Ottawa does not have such a big problem on D as everyone is making out. They finished right in the middle of the pack at 15th for goals against last season. Compare that to Montreal (21st) and also Toronto's dead LAST finish

League average of goals scored per team - 233.5
Goals for Toronto - 244
Montreal - 242
Ottawa - 213 ( <<< that's a sad stat right there)
Goals against Ottawa - 231
Montreal - 240
Toronto - 286

you know, we did lose enough games by 1 goal to put us in the playoffs...now that you mention it.
And ya, thats a horrible stat.
