But not much else...there has to be a trade coming for some forwards somewhere.

The good news is that Burkie has really played his cards well and has not only a very stocked cupboard of expendable defenders but also a fair chunk of cap space.

I predict the Leafs will make the playoffs this year.

I think the Leafs will be 9th or 10th, not in the playoffs, YET. They just need to add a top three forward, and a real one, to play on the top line, whether it be a centerman or a winger, once they get that, I think they'll make the playoffs.

Their defense looks tremendous though, and the goaltending situation as well with Jonas Gustavsson and Vesa Toskala. I think Gustavsson is going to 'steal' the number one job from Toskala early in the season, which will lead to Toskala getting traded at the trade deadline.

I agree Rayzor. Unless Burke pulls a major deal out of his ass sometime in the next couple of months sending us a couple top 6 guys I don't see us making the playoffs. One thing I really like is that Burke has completely re-tooled our defense. I think we led the league in goals against last season and hopefully the new signings help out in that area. Defense has been our biggest problem for years and hopefully this marks the end of a torcherous era of not making the playoffs.

Great forwards are a lot easier to come by than great defenseman so I'm glad Burke made that his number 1 priority this offseason.

burke might be able to get good picks/players for toskala before the trade deadline.

He adds depth to the TORONTO MARLIES. If he's playing with the Leafs, he's on the fourth line, guaranteed.

I think he was signed to a 1-way deal though which doesn't make any sense to me if he's going to be playing with the Marlies. Although with Newbury and Williams gone, the Marlies are certainly lacking. It'll definitely be an interesting training camp!

No i don't know anything about him other than he is 6'0 tall and played for minnesota for about 25 games before going back to Sweden and had 45 points in 55 games last year
