Default The Official Phoenix Coyotes Thread

I always love the odd underdog team and the 'Yotes are just that this season. Bryzgalov has been great, their defensive play has been solid with Jovanovski and Yandle and Doan is still solid, plus he's getting some good help from Upshall, Lombardi, Vrbata and Lang.

Oh ya, and Tippett's definitely turned around the team and I love how he is putting the most emphasis on their strength; the back end.

Yay for feel-good stories.

How crazy would it be to see Phoenix (and Colorado as well for that matter) make the playoffs this year?

There's no way anyone would have picked that at the start of the season.

Did you pick both of them?

I know some people thought Colorado would make it, I though they would just miss out. But at no point in the off-season or pre-season did I read someone's prediction that Phoenix would come anywhere near to making the playoffs.

Made this thread in October/November, almost 90% in this forum would have been about whether Pheonix should stay or go.

Why are they doing well?

1: Bryzgalov has finally stepped up
2: They have so many young talents
3: Some sleepers has finally woke up

To be honest, I guessed they will be in 13th~15th in the Western Conference ranking

And another win for Phoenix, 3-2 over the Rangers.

They're in a dog fight for 4th right now with LA and Colorado.

Lunacy. To say that those 3 teams were fighting for home ice advantage in the later half of the season...it's been a year of surprises.

Scottie Upshall's injured, big hit for the 'Yotes, will be interesting to see if they can battle through it.

I'm happy for the Yotes. They are becoming like my second fave team. It's awesome to see them have a great season after a nerve-wrecking summer.

I had Colorado being the worst team in the entire league.

Well the deadline acquisitions have done the Coyotes no harm.

Specially Wolski and Stempniak

All he needed was to get out of You-Know-Where.

I think Don Maloney deserves a pat on the back for creating this roster and just making the moves he did.

I'm sure he will but he's definitely a western conference player. His style of play didn't fit in the east.
