I think the top West playoff threats will be Vancouver, San Jose, Chicago, Calgary, and Detroit. It will be fun to watch. Imagine if Luongo and Nabokov duke it out at GM place for Olympic gold, and then again for the Western finals...!

Luongo would win both times.

Whoa! And the Vancouver Canucks are 3rd in the Western Conference and 1st in the Northwest Division!! When the hell did that happen!?!

8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They're 14-5-1 in their last 20 games.

Canucks will be a contender this year, gotta believe they win. Bobby Lou is on his game, Hernik leads the league in scoring and is stepping up his game, Daniel Sedin has been on fire since returning from injury, and everything is clicking on that team. Hard to think they won't be a contender this year if they keep this up.

But this upcoming 14 game road trip because of the Olympics will really show if they can contend or not.

This is a ridiculous post. How do they choke, with Burrows scoring back-to-back hat-tricks, and Sedins fooling almost every team's defence ? Calling them overrated must be a joke.

Nucks lost in the shootout to the Flames last night in an amazing game, playoff atmosphere, with two great fights included. Rypien and Prust fought twice, and it was amazing both times.

Nah, the fact that everyone says the exact same thing about them year after year is a joke. They rarely ever get past Round 2 in the playoffs and trust me, it won't change this season either.

Them, and Calgary.

I tend to agree with AF. Always in the playoffs, and always out quickly.

What if it doesn't? I like to stick to the tradition and looks like the 'Nucks do too.

There's always a lovefest around Vancouver all season long and then... I used to like them too before I figured that one out.

Only a few teams can go deep each year. I think Vancouver has the best shot at a Cup of all the Canadian teams...

I think this statement is true also, but I also believe they'll be hard pressed to make it.

Like most of the past few years. Just like the fact that Canadian teams have a tendency to fall apart around Round 2, we also know that it means nothing and while I admit the Canucks are probably the best team (depends on what happens to CGY this time around), like MTA said, their chances are low to get past Round 2.

At the beginning of the season, I had the Canadian teams ranked like so:

Vancouver
Calgary
Ottawa
Toronto
Montreal
Edmonton

It's currently:

Calgary
Vancouver
Ottawa
Montreal
Toronto
Edmonton
