Wrong.

Fills seats, sells magazines, increases viewer ship.
Like it or not, there is more money in people getting hurt.

No pretty sure there isn't. Nobody in any sport wants to see something like that again. Yeah it'll get attention for like a week or so but that attention will be bad and in the end it will be bad for the league.

Agreed man. I'd even go a step further - what Downie did to Crosby was full-fledged assault in my opinion, and precedent or not, assaulting another person is illegal and should be handled accordingly.

Here's what I don't get.

You have 2 referees and 2 linesmen on the ice at any one time. Hockey is a very fast-pace game and sometimes people miss calls. They're human. It becomes a bit harder when there's 4 of them on the ice, but it still happens.

But then you have countless reviews, cameras in every corner of the rink, the players obviously say something, the fans are in uproar - and the best they can come up with is a fine? A measly fine?

Where is the accountability? Where is the discipline?

You know why Downie will do that again? Because he can, and he will get away with it.
