So then who's the one that's correct? the NHL is a fast game and things happen at the last second...but I agree with SenatorArmy, how the defense will be hard to play and afraid to hit. It's kinda sad to see the NFL get away with it, especially when the idea of the game (well almost) is to tackle others.

But anyway, the only real way to get rid of head shots is soften up the shoulder pad padding and elbow padding (lets face it, who's gonna get a puck to the elbow anyway).

There should be a minor penalty for each and every headshot, intentional or not.

Suspension is a different matter, they should be assessed case by case.

If you get 2 minutes (sometimes 4) for hitting a guy in the head with your stick, why not 2 minutes for any other part of the body?

There was an interesting article in the Globe and Mail about this. How Savard is really struggling. Definitely will miss this season.

Boston should have had someone drop the gloves every time Cooke got on the ice. Screw the 2 points. Boston and the teams in general have to send a message that if the NHL cant control or deal with dirty players like Cooke, that the players will like they did for so many years in the past.

Cooke back talking to Thorton tonight after taking a beating just shows how much of a douchebag he is. I dont agree with Grapes much, but Cooke is a dirtbag and IMHO, he needs to get his ass handed to him over and over until he learns to respect the game.
