Default Ponikarovski to the Pens

...and the search for a Pens winger continues.

To Pittsburgh:

Alexei Ponikarovski

To Toronto

Luca Caputi
Martin Skoula

Not 100% confirmed but there are a LOT of people saying this is almost done.

A solid prospect.

Good deal for the Leafs.

Ummmm I don't know much about the guy the Pens got... I haven't paid a lot of attention to hockey this season cuz of band and school and the such... is this a good deal for the Pens or did they just get screwed? Cuz if so I'm gonna slap Ray Shero.

Poni could be HUGE with the Penguins! This deal takes nothing from the Pens current top 6 of forwards. The potential chemistry between him and one of Malkin and Crosby (or both on the PP) is SCARY!

And the Leafs get Skoula (who IMO is a bit of a throw in) and potential star amd damn good prospect in Luca Caputi.

If I'm a fan of both teams (shudder)

I'm content with it both ways

I'm only a Pens fan. I don't care what happens to the Leafs. Say they blow up... that's cool with me.

The real winner in PoniKarovski, he gets to leave that train wreck we call the 2010 Maple Leafs and go play for a contender.
This is all about the present for Pittsburgh as Poni will be a good fit with maybe Malkin. And its all about the future for Toronto as Caputi is a damn good prospect.

Agreed but the flip side is that he takes all that bad luck along with him to Pittsburg Advantage OTTAWA

Errr....lol?

This trade is a win/win situation for both teams. Pittsburgh gets a big winger they so desperately need and the Leafs get a great prospect in return. I hope Poni does really well for the Pens

It ended up being:

To Pittsburgh:

Alexei Ponikarovski

To Toronto

Luca Caputi
5th (NJ)

I was listening to Burke's presser and he said he turned down a 2nd and 4th for Poni. I'm really happy with the trade he did make though.

Well Poni did good for the Pens last night. I don't think he had any points but he played well.

Poni is a good winger, he's big, skates reasonably well and he goes right to the net on the PP. Who was he playing with last night SCF?

...That doesn't make sense..he wasn't traded yet last night. He was a healthy scratch for the Leafs pending a trade. The trade was confirmed around midnight EST.

I was at the game he scored five goals and had three helpers. The hip wrote a song about it and it went gold. Then after he died they made it into a movie 3 D a a matter of fact. The crowd was silent and the band played on. Somebody got confused and life was good.
