Maybe he really is just concerned about the future of Atlanta and it's ownership. It's all in the air right now what's going to happen to Atlanta in the future.

Speaking of that..I had read somewhere that was one of his main concern about re-signing with Atlanta: Unsure future of the organization. He wanted somekind of confirmation that the team wouldn't face the possibility of moving down the road...don't remember the exact words but it was something in that line.

IMO, if he was so concerned about this stuff, he would ask for less money (at least up front in the contract) and help the team instead of asking for more and then expect some kind of miracle with the team's financial issues..

And another thing, most of the team where he could remain anonymous..will face financial issues if they aren't already....he will have to think big market soon..or back to Russia.

My opinion: Fine, just go. I don't give a @@@@ about players/athletes with lack of class.
Sometimes its not even the playres its there agents trying to get as much money as possiblt for there client

Yep! I hate agents. If everything was running like it should, these agents are employed by the players as their representatives. The agents are not suppose to boss around. Something is wrong here...and it seems like its not bothering the people it should bother, the players. I know the players want their market values and I think they should, don't get me wrong...however when a players says (and I heard it), in the end it was in my agent's hands..it drives me bonkers!

Ovechkin is (I think) the only player in the NHL that doesn't have an agent and represents himself.

I'm sure many other low-level NHLers represent themselves...

If he really wanted to win in Atlanta, he'd take a few million less and let them sign some teammates.
Agree...thats exactly how I feel.

Cause he is a liar. Remember he said this quote in interview?

"I would give all my goals, trophy, accomplishment in order for Atlanta to win the cup"

pff, what a liar. Are Russians all like this???
