He doesn't get his cash up front, does he?

I thought that the Habs still pay 1/3 (or maybe it's 2/3) of his original salary over the term of the bought out contract...

I would make sense to me that he would get a lump sum of money upfront...but the team gets to spread it to not be penalized with cap issues..

EDIT: Was that the point...clearing some cap room?

**** YA!!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!

This guy is the most useless player in the entire league. Kyle Chipchura has fought more than Georges Laraque this season. Laraque is just useless. When he's not fighting, he's nothing. He can barely skate (most times it looks like he's running on the ice), and we didn't need him other than for fighting, something which he hasn't done a lot since he's been with the Montreal Canadiens.

No need wasting a roster space for this guy when there are much better candidates. I wouldn't mind seeing Nielson in the NHL as our fighter. He was good during the pre-season.

Gainey has made some very questionable decisions lately. Even when he took over behind the bench. Laraque on the PP... what a joke. Thank God he's done with in Montreal!

I could have swore than when Ottawa was facing Montreal last weekend or something, Rayzor bragged SO much on Laraque's 50% S%age.

Now you're happy? Make up your mind.

Laraque wasn't put on waivers because he had a N/M clause ....He will remain on the payroll and his contract will be bought out at the end of the season.

Like I said, Gainey made some very questionable decisions these past few years, that being one of them. A NMC for Laraque? LOL, you kidding me?

what the hell are you talking about?

He has fun playing hockey, and he was upset..

no nhl player would want to be kicked off the team regardless of their salary.. it's embarrasing..

how would you feel if you played for you hometown team and get kicked off? I'm sure you would cry.

I have a feeling this is the end....I dunno..he doesn't have alot to show for, aside from dropping the gloves, he doesn't bring much to the table...I don't think teams will be lining up for his services.

I guess time will tell...

You make some good points, I just think it's kinda silly. I wonder how much sleep would be lost for him if the earthquake in Haiti hadn't happened...
