My list of things to do in Australia...(continued)

Posted 08-04-2009 at 02:45 PM by Matt the Aussie

So I've had a chance to think and I have some more things to do while in Aussieland.

4. Bring some flyers (and take some back from Australia): Now this on the surface is a rather geeky thing to do. BUT, I have been lamenting lately the prices of certain things here in Canada in comparision to in Australia. I want it on record what prices are. My family often marvel when they ask me about going shopping and how much I am able to buy here...

5. Get some of mum's recipies for cooking: By the time I get back it will have been 18 months since I sat down to dinner with my family. And while I am looking forward to having dinner with them - I want that food here in Canada! My mum is part Greek, and she cooks a lot of amazing dishes, none of which I can reproduce in the slightest by myself. Me and Mrs MTA both cook and I'd say we're fairly good at it but there's just no comparison.

6. Take the ferry along the Brisbane River: There's a really nice ferry that goes up and down the river in the city, I want to go on it and take some cool pictures. We're going to be getting a new camera before we go too so definitely planning to give it some use.

Any more thoughts? Suggestions?

I'll keep posting things here when they come to mind.

You're making me want to go to Australia! I've never been before, and it's one of the places I've always wanted to go. Such a long flight though!

Yeah it's not for the faint of heart. 5 hours from Toronto to LA and about 15-16 hours from LA to Brisbane! I have to do that there and back in the space of 3 weeks...

It is worth the flight though. Such a wonderful place - even more so in my mind now that I've had time away. I feel blessed that I have come to know two countries - Canada and Australia - as home.
