Job opportunity...

Ok.
So just recently I have been keeping VERY busy. It has been busy at work, I have been worried about Mrs MTA (she's been sick lately but starting to get better now thank god), and I also have to sort out my immigration papers now before they expire next May. Anyone who's been through that will tell you it's a royal pain in the arse...
But when I was browsing the internet the other day something caught my eye. Something that could be a really good opportunity for someone in my position.
It seems the Australian Embassy in Ottawa is hiring - and as soon as I saw that I just knew I had to put an application in.
I'm not particularly upset with my job, and the salary increase would be marginal. Not to mention I would have to pick up and move. But I know I love Ottawa and the type of city it is, and I know that I could really excel working with and for Australians again. So I'm really excited about the possibility.
It's not very likely I'll get this job, it's probably not likely they'll even interview me (I'm in Kitchener and I can't just drive down to Ottawa for an interview as it is...they'd have to do it over the phone anyways) - but it's something I'm daydreaming about right now and I really hope against hope they give me a chance.
Wish me luck people! I'll be adding more things to do in Australia soon so watch out for that too...

It just seems like a perfect fit.
I'm an Australian who is very happy to be living in Canada. I would be helping Australians who also live in Canada, and Canadians interested in learning about Australia. I feel like I could do both really well.
I feel as if Canada and Australia have a mutual understanding...we have similar mentalities on a lot of things. I majored in international business in university. It just fits too well for me to not try.Posted 08-02-2009 at 06:58 AM by Matt the Aussie
