ZE BLOG, YEAR 1, EPISODE 2

It's a long, long summer and I have nothing to do so I remembered about my weekly blog. Today's edition will feature:
  • The Fantasy League
  • Off-Season Thoughts
  • Personal Messenger
and a couple other things which will pop into my head along the way.

So, the first item on the list is the most important. Rounds 3 & 4 of the draft take place today, and the trade front is going crazy. I personally am not overally happy with my moves yesterday. I had the third overall selection which was eventually used to draft Malkin, but I decided to trade it away in hopes of a later first-round steal. So, basically, as the trade front was sizzling down with a couple minutes left, I had to, I just had to make the biggest splash of the day trading a first rounder and a second rounder for another first rounder and another second rounder. After Brandon and I made our selections for the day, this trade would have Nashville trading Zach Parise and Martin Brodeur for my Evgeny Malkin and Nicklas Lidstrom. See why I'm not so happy now? ya.....
Parise is really being used as trade bait right at this moment by yours truly, but for the sake of conspiracy, I'm not saying who I'm going for and what teams I'm talking to. However, whatever happens, expect me to make at least one trade before Round 3 tonight. I am terribly desperate to majorly tweak my two-man roster.

Looking at my 10 rivals, I'm liking the strategy taken by Rayzor and the Habs, Bigfoot and the Devils, my trade partner Brandon and the Predators and Spezza'sGirl and the Pens. Why? Well Rayzor is crazy active (obviously) and he had three picks in the first two rounds. Who did he get? The most surprising players you can draft. He selected Getzlaf over Datsuyk, Emery over many more proven goalies and Pronger as the only real safe pick. Why do I think that's good? Because surprise picks can, well, surprise. Same goes for Bigfoot who took Iginla and Mason. SG had here first overall pick and hung on to it, which I definetly respect. Crosby and then Green are real team cornerstones and she made smart decisions with her two picks. And Brandon, well, I think he owned me in that trade and he was smart to jump at it quickly.

Off-season thoughts...... I'm thinking that the summer is boring for hockey. That's my off-season thought of the week.
Oh ya, Heatley will be a Senator in October. Just my $0.02

And finally, the PM system. It's very annoying for me as a GM to have to wait 60 seconds between PMs. It won't necessarily stop spam because 1 minute is nothing, but it's annoying for those of us who don't spam. I don't like it, that is all.

That's all for this wekk, see ya next Tuesday at Ze Blog!
