Default Brodeur AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Binghamton Senators goaltender Mike Brodeur has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 8, 2009. Brodeur stopped 94 of 96 shots in three appearances last week, good for a 0.67 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage.

Brodeur had gone more than three weeks without a win before he made 25 saves on Wednesday night, helping Binghamton to a 2-0 road win over the Albany River Rats. He turned aside 36 of 37 Hamilton shots in Friday’s 2-1 win over the Bulldogs at the Bell Centre in Montreal, then made 33 saves in a 1-0 loss to Hamilton at Scotiablank Place in Kanata, Ont., home of the parent Ottawa Senators, on Sunday. Brodeur received a total of four goals of offensive support in three starts but still posted a mark of 2-1-0 on the week.

In recognition of his achievement, Brodeur will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Senators home game.

Brodeur is now 4-3-0 in 11 appearances for Binghamton this season, with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage along with one shutout. He shows a career AHL record of 28-23-4 with three shutouts in 68 games with Binghamton, Rochester, Rockford and Norfolk. The 26-year-old native of Calgary is in his sixth professional season, and signed as a free agent with Ottawa on July 1, 2009.
