Jobs involving hockey
Any of you guys have any aspirations of making a career of doing something involving hockey in some way?
I myself, want to work on TSN and be a journalist and analyst, like McKenzie, Dreger, etc... OR work on CBC and be a play-by-play analyst.
What about you guys? Any career aspirations that involve hockey in some way?

A few of us from Work have decided that we would be personal nurses for NHL teams! (Ok, that wouldn't ever happen, considering no nurses do that work, but I can dream!)

I wouldn't mind being in sports journalism or working in the front office somehow.

I'd like to become a successful hockey journalist. I'm trying to get the website going for that reason - to get practice and exposure writing about hockey. Also, I'm planning on writing a novel about the evolution of hockey in the last 20 years.
What I'm really hoping is that, one day, the writing will land me a job as an analyst, most likely for a network like SportsNet or TSN. Eventually, after putting it 10+ years as a (hopefully respected) analyst, maybe I would have my name thrown around for GM positions, like Pierre McGuire and Bob McKenzie...

I know Pierre McGuire was a former scout and assistant GM with the Sens...what's Bob McKenzie's background?

Bob McKenzie has only ever played hockey and it wasn't at the competitive level as a kid. He's not throwing his name out there to be a general manger, that's more Pierre McGuire. And I'd do that too, take the Pierre McGuire route and become a general manager after becoming an analyst.

I didn't mean that they throw their own names out there, but I've heard a lot of talk about Bob McKenzie as a potential GM. I know I'd take him as my GM before I took McGuire.

I'd personally take Pierre McGuire. He's annoying as hell, and creepy as ****, but this guy knows his hockey and knows what it takes to build a winning team.
Himself, Steve Yzerman and someone else were all in the running to be the general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning. We all know how that turned out, but still.

If you hang out in a poorly lit Philadelphia establishment for long enough, you could probably still get Jeff Carter...

Becoming a player agent is something that could peak my interest as well.

Yeah, I'm still considering journalism and law as potential career options, and if I were to go into either, being a sports writer or agent would be at the top of my agenda.

Yep, same here. Either as a journalist or becoming a sports agent. Maybe broadcasting (play-by-play) as well. I don't know, I still have time to think about it before I get in to University.

I want to do Jay Onrait or Dan O'Toole's job. Hell, even Kate Beirness has fun while doing the show if it's with Jay.
