He might miss the rest of the season per ESPN.

I think he gets a two game suspension. They're reviewing it soon per TSN.

I still can't believe Turtle McGuire and Mike F***ing Milbury were defending that hit.

3-4 games, IMO. Ovie has a history.

Would you call boarding on that hit, Flex?

No I would not call it boarding I would call it interference or roughing.

It was not that hit they were defending. It was the rules and today’s game in general.
Top that with the icing rules since the trapezoid was put into play along with hits from behind that get missed every game. The Shakespear falls and the wimps that stay down prettending to be hurt.

Then and only then will you understand why I say "Bettman we have a f@cking problem” Ov just gave the boy a push. Crosby, Kovalev, Iggy any solid skater gets pushed the same way and they skate away. No fall down go boom.

Isn't boarding any hit that results from a player landing on the boards?

It is also interference AND roughing, but I think boarding is a fair call too.

I'm not sure I get why he had a game misconduct, what was the reason for that?

No Boarding is when you hit the player into the boards from behind

Boarding

"A minor or major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, based upon the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, shall be imposed on any player who checks an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards."

No mention on it having to be from behind.

It has to be from behind, if not, every good hit by the forecheckers would be boarding.

A minor or major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee,

Referee has to have enough brains to understand discretion

The key terms are "at the discretion of the referee" and "thrown violently into the boards"

When you're close to the boards and you get stapled, that's not a penalty because you haven't been "thrown violently"

What makes the Ovie hit a boarding call is that Campbell is a good 4-6 feet away from the boards and gets "thrown violently into the boards".

Ahhhh, in minor hockey, you could throw up your arm and call it checking from behind and thats an automatic ejection.
