Mat you are wrong sorry good buddy but you are wrong. get over it. Four to six feet away is what makes it clean. Inside of three feet is nasty.

Not according to the rules I'm not.
Read it again. It makes no mention of what the distance should be, just that the player needs to be "thrown violently into the boards".
Ovie did that, and he got a call. Simple.

Yes but even in minor hockey a good solid skater would have turned and got the hell out of dodge.

Rules read go read the bible and lets see if we disagree. I would never argue with you about rugby I never played.

I'm not saying the rule is the best rule in the whole wide world, but it is the rule, and it was called to the letter on this occasion.
Maybe they should change the rule, make it more definite, but for now, that hit is boarding according to the exact letter of that rule.

Except Lapierre got 4 games and he was not a repeat offender. AO is a repeat offender, therefore, he should have no less than 4 games..

Better than I expected them to give him...
But there's no excuse for letting Downie walk free for his move on Crosby.

Its mind boggling that they haven't reviewed Downie's stupid move...and if they did, how the hell can they reach a conclusion other than show him the door for at least a few games?!?

From Bob Mackenzie:
Why Ovie was suspended, Downie not? U won't like it, but it's one word - injury. If Crosby injured, Downie sits. If Campbell not, Ovie plays
If that's seriously the reason, then I have lost respect for the NHL.

Now like I said how can one player know weather or not the other one is going to get hurt for Christ sakes. A good solid skater would have skated away for the OV push.

3-4 games, IMO. Ovie has a history.

THIS!!!
Wild organization should have just made McGuire as a GM. Than he wouldn't have to talk crap about how much he loves Ovie, Crosby, and the Penguins.

He did not want the job and he is good at what he does. If anything he was kissing Milburry's ass on Sunday. He sometimes does go with the flow. But I bet any one of you that given the chance to be in a one on one conversation with him you would take it and come away a better person for it

I dont care if its boarding or not, it was a clear intent to injure.
He has a history and should be suspended accordingly.
Roid rage.

I wouldnt mind if it was a hard call to make, but we have had Downie, Ovie, Cooke, and Lapierre all dish out intent to injure hits late in the season and very inconsistent judgments by the league.
Not only does it undermine the game, but it raises serious questions about all aspects of league management. Its politics and Bettman seems to be going wild with it.
I lost faith in the NHL anytime a goal has to goto Toronto for video review. If the networks can get footage that gives a definitive answer, and the NHL video review team can screw so many up, it again begs the question "WTF is going on?"
