Default No links but I heard on the radio.....

....while Mrs 13 was listening to some hollywood gossip guy and since I love her so much and fear her too I listened too. The guy said that due to the success of the Can/US Olympic hockey game, NBC are exploring the possibility of getting both teams back together for a playoff series.
While I doubt this can be acomplished, nor should it be done, it does hopefullly help pave the way for a TV deal in the US.

They are just sore losers. Plus i don't think any of the players would risk injury to play in a meaningless series. Our team was full of stars and there team were full of second liners.

Million of people watched that game in Canada compared to about 300 in the usa. Hollywood may make a movie about it staring Jack Reilly, Rob Low and Russell Crowe the Yanks will gather by the millions to watch it and once again get a genuine understanding of the game we call hockey.

CBC interview with Brain Burke has him saying that he would love to have a best 2-3 series. In between his breath when he spoke this, you can see if he had the power, he would make it happen.

Umm, I'd much rather watch a US vs Canada game than the stupid All-Star game that means nothing...

good lord... this is just sore loser syndrome again... just like the days when they got so mad that Donovan Bailey was called fastest man on earth so they just started calling Michael Johnson the fastest and then there had to be a televised show down between the two. Ridiculous. Just take your loss.

Its stupid, even an American is embarassed here.

Whats the whole point? Lets say we (USA) wins. What are they gonna say? "We won against Canada, USA should have won in an Olympics"?

No point. The next time Canada-USA will face each other is in the Olympics. Maybe not in 2014, but I bet the NHL will allow players again. Mark my words.

Not really. The Summit series was between 2 countries who had never played against each other before. Even though the Soviet Union claimed to be amateurs they where full of professionals. Thats why they dominated at the Olympics for 30 years and Canada did poor. By our Professional beating them 4-3 we showed the world they could be beaten.

We bruised the USA's ego and since they can't declare war on us they want a rematch.

I don't know if this is as much about being sore losers and patriotism as it is about NBC looking to make some money.

"Miracle on Ice" is not only the biggest momment in hockey history, but also declared as the biggest momment in sports history.

Trust me, and its hockey. Sorry to say but hockey isn't that major, but people still chose "Miracle on Ice" as the biggest out of all those crazy momments in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, ...etc.

'72 summit series was an one heck of a series, but "Miracle on Ice" is IMO a bigger accomplishment.

Miracle on ice was 1 game and thats why Americans think that it was a miracle. The Summit Series was 8 games with 2 teams trying to kill each other like the Bobby Clark slash on Valeri Kharlamov. Canada had to win the last 3 games on foreign soil to win the series. The Us were on home ice. That does a lot for a team.

American team: Teenage Boys, Soviet team: Professional hockey players

Canada team: NHL All-Star players, Soviet team: Professional hockey players

I wanna see canadien U18 team against Team Russia.

Infact the funny thing is, "Miracle on Ice" is considered as the biggest upset / momment in sports history, but yet nobody ACTUALLY knows how amazing it was.

If I say who was the captain, and who was the goaltender for the Team USA in the "Miracle on Ice", I bet over 50% will say "I don't know". I bet nobody knows a guy named Mike Eruzione...unless if you're into hockey, just like you and me.
