This. However, for the first time since Price has been playing in the NHL and we traded Huet, Gainey has given Martin the nod to play Halak more and give him more of an opportunity. So it's very likely Gainey no longer sees Price as the goaltender of the future for the Canadiens anymore.
Carey Price will be a great goaltender one day, but he isn't now, and when he does live up to being a great goaltender, it won't be with the Montreal Canadiens.

I think Price would be playing better if he wasn't under the microscope constantly. His cage was rattled and he's having a hard time getting back on top of things.

Maybe Gainey still sees him as the futur of the team, however, I think he finaly realized his #1 goalie had a back up and its ok to rely on the back up sometimes.

He'd do better in a market like Tampa Bay or Florida or something. Somewhere where the media attention is nowhere near as high as Montreal's is, or anywhere in Canada for that matter.
He seems like he gets rattled by the media too easily, and the fans as well. Hopefully, he can prove me wrong before the trade deadline rolls around, but, if we can, and we get a decent return for Price at the deadline in March, I'd suggest trading him... sadly.

Except his value is not that high right now... unless he can pull some convincing victories, Habs won't get that much in return..

Hopefully. Otherwise, we might just let another team sign him, he's an RFA this year, as is Halak.
We could probably lock up Halak for 1.5-2.5 million I'm guessing, possibly 3 million, depends how his numbers are by the end of the year.
Price, if we decided to keep him, would probably be cheap. 1.5-2.5 million for two years I'm guessing...

Halak won't get $3M...
It doesn't make sense to have both Halak and Price. They're both young prospects right now. Goalies don't often hit their stride until around age 30 as it is.
Pick one, and sign Giguere when he's available (next year...?).

I don't want Giguere. He seems to be a goaltender in decline from his play recently...
If I were the GM of the Canadiens, I'd hope Nabakov tests the open market and if he does, I'd sign him to a one or two year deal and have him play 45-50 games so Halak/Price can also pitch in and play 30-37 games.

Which is why you'd get Giguere cheap. Nabokov is not going anywhere unless there is a huge amount of money on the table.

rumor going around Higgins for Marchant trade between Rangers/Ducks could be in the works. Possibly more pieces.

Another rumor is the Flyers are the leading candidate to lure Forsberg back to the NHL while Washington, Montreal and Colorado are other teams that are showing interest.

Me neither, but that'd be something if he did for some reason sign with us.
It'd also help us with our top six winger problem.

Yeah I guess it makes sense forward wise for the Habs.

Rumor has it the Chicago Blackhawks have interest in Toronto defenseman, Tomas Kaberle.
My thoughts: Don't they already have enough offensive defenseman?
The Rangers are the only team that have admitted interest in Peter Forsberg. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren denied interest. It's not known whether the Caps, Habs or Avs have serious interest.
Thoughts: If Gagne and Briere are out long-term, the Flyers should try to sign Forsberg. However, they still seem to have a high-powered offense even with the two out, having scored 12 goals in their last 2 games.
Pierre LeBrun suggests Lecavalier trade-talks could heat up again in December, around Christmas time if the Lightning aren't in playoff contention. LeBrun suggests the Kings, Rangers and Canadiens could be possible suitors for Vinny, and suggests that despite his contract, there still might be a market for him.
Thoughts: Disagree. Too long of contract, and I doubt the Canadiens or Kings would want Lecavalier. Gomez is playing better than Vincent Lecavalier for gods sake!
Caps have interest in keeping Alex Semin in their lineup after this season, but it might cost them. Contract negotiations have not begun yet for Semin, but when Semin's agent was asked about Semin taking a hometown discount, his agent responded by saying 'we don't believe in discounts.'
Thoughts: Caps should try to sign Backstrom first, then Semin. It could cost upwards of 6-7 million for Alex Semin.
Biron would love to return to the Sabres line up as back up to Miller. Lalime isn't looked at as a reliable back up.
Thoughts: It's an affordable option, but it'll likely happen when DiPietro returns to the lineup.
There have been reports that there are rumors that have Chelios signing with an NHL team soon.
Thoughts: Canadiens might be that team. But I doubt it. O'Byrne and Gill are both returning in 2-3 weeks. We just have to live with Bergeron for that much longer...
A deal to loan or trade Michael Nylander to a KHL club didn't work out well for the Caps and Nylander has been recalled from the AHL.
Thoughts: Nylander put up some good numbers in the AHL. Maybe he can return to form back in the NHL if given a chance.

Andy Strickland says that a reliable source has told him that Forsberg is down to two teams, and those teams are the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.

Forsberg's agent is reporting that he won't make a decision until after the tournament. He could sign in the KHL too.
I think, if Lecavalier keeps going at this slow pace, this will be the first year I'll actually believe he gets traded. Not to the Habs though. But wouldn't it be something!?
